The Forks Hotel was a restaurant in Cheektowaga, NY (not far from Buffalo) owned by Eddie Fechter, which he bought it in 1958, where he would perform.
Over the years the reputation of ''Forks'' grew and the magicians who have come out of Forks went on to make a mark in the magic community.
''Fechter's Finger Flicking Frolic'', commonly referred to as the ''4F convention'' was started here in April 1971 by Eddie Fechter, Bill Okal and ''Obie'' O'Brien, who decided that it would be nice to have a convention dedicated strictly to the art of close-up magic. (Now 4F is held on the last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in April at the Clarion Hotel
in Batavia, NY).
The Forks Hotel was torn down several years ago after a fire, and the new brick building on the site now houses the Cheektowaga Credit Union.
